The Economic Structure
The economy of the Iroquois was trading. They didn't have much money back then, so they decided to trade with the Europeans. They traded things like beaver fur , animal skin, meat, sticks and more for weapons. But before the Europeans came, the Iroquois built their own weapons like arrows, stone axes, knives, and blowguns. They traded some of their weapons like arrows and knives to the Europeans for stronger and more powerful weapons. The Iroquois economy wasn't really using money, so they traded instead.
Peace making and treaty making
The Iroquois faught a lot because the clans and tribes started to kill each other from their anger. They kept killing each other because they got mad at something else and showed their anger on that person they killed because they thought that violence was the answer. But then a miracle happened. There was a boy named Hiawatha. The day he was born, he was known as "the chosen one", to help the peacemaker. He was born to help the Iroquois learn that violence was not the answer, but peace was. Hiawatha was the founder of the Iroquois Confederacy. As Hiawatha grew up, he became stronger and wiser. When he was old enough, he sailed to meet the Iroquois and to tell them that peace was the answer. While Hiawatha was there, he met Dekanawidah, who was known as " the great peacemaker" who was also helping the Iroquois. The peace maker and Hiawatha decided to make a tree called 'the tree of peace'. They made it because under the tree, every single Iroquois put all their weapons under the tree for peace. On top of that tree, there was a hawk. That hawk watched over the haudenosaunee people to make sure that there is peace. That was the peace treaty that the Iroquois had.
